Dear readers,
Our TCORS 2.0 - CAsToR DAD Core created this bulletin to keep you updated on the latest data and resources available through the DAD.
What's new?
Product-specific Nicotine Dependence Scores (PATH Waves 1-5)
The DAD core developed separate nicotine dependence scores on ENDS and non-ENDS products use across PATH Waves 1-5 and are now available in our DAD Datasets. These nicotine dependence scores can be used to study the impact of nicotine dependence on smoking and vaping patterns.
We conducted an item response theory (IRT) analysis to select which dependence items provide sufficient, distinct information to establish a link to the underlying trait of dependence in current tobacco users and recent quitters. Afterward, we derived various tobacco dependence score (TDS) variables using two approaches: Graded Response Models (GRM) & Linear average of rescaled responses.

The DAD core is happy to announce the availability of the restricted Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study datasets in ICPSR’s Virtual Data Enclave (VDE).
