New variables available
The DAM Core is pleased to announce the availability of new marijuana-related variables:
Ever use of marijuanain any form: To derive this variable, we included information on marijuana use in any form, such as part of a cigar, from a hookah, concentrates, waxes, THC, in electronic nicotine products (ENPs), or by itself.
UM_Wx_A_marijuanause_ever (Waves 1-7)
Blunt use:
UM_Wx_12MBLUNT_ONLY_BTRAD (Waves 3-7): Used traditional cigars as blunts when smoked in the past 12 months
UM_Wx_12MBLUNT_ONLY_BRILLO (Waves 3-7): Used cigarillos as blunts when smoked in the past 12 months
UM_W3_12MBLUNT_ONLY_BFILTR (Waves 3-7): Used filtered cigars as blunts when smoked in the past 12 months
UM_Wx_A_CUR_BTRAD (Waves 3-7): Current use of traditional cigars as blunts
UM_Wx_A_CUR_BRILLO (Waves 3-7): Current use of cigarillos as blunts
UM_Wx_A_CUR_BFILTR (Waves 3-7): Current use of filtered cigars as blunts
Ever use ENPs with marijuana

These marijuana-use variables are intended for analyses in the scope of CAsToR’s aims that are consistent with federal policy regarding our funding. Please reach out to federal partners for guidance on analysis plans that include marijuana-use variables.

The release of PATH Wave 8, Restricted Use Files, was scheduled for Fall 2025; however, we are still awaiting the data. We will keep you informed as we receive updates.
